Dr. Delaney holds a number of licenses: Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and Florida; Licensed Independent Mental Health Practitioner in the State of Nebraska; Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor in the State of Texas; and, Certified Counselor in Canada.
Her current clinical work includes both individual and family therapy intervention focusing specifically on anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, parenting, and adjustment issues. Dr. Delaney has a special interest in patients with self-harm disorders as well as survivors of sex trafficking.
She utilizes empirically based treatment methods: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization Therapy (EMDR), Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Theoretically, Dr Delaney can best be described as using an eclectic approach. She relies heavily on behaviorism, cognitive behaviorism, and family systems theory.
Dr Delaney received both her Doctorate in Counseling Psychology and Master of Clinical Psychology from Texas Southern University, an Historically Black College (HBCU) in Houston, TX. Originally from Alberta, Canada, she also holds a Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Psychology from the University of Alberta in Edmonton. Dr. Delaney completed both her master’s practicum and doctoral internship through Houston Independent School District's Psychological Services Unit where she served on the Crisis Intervention Team. As a team member, she traveled to district schools and provided on site psychological consultations for students who were in need of crisis care as well as suicide and homicide assessments. She went on to work with children and families at Depechin Children's Center and UTHealth. Her time at the Council on Recovery provided her valuable experience in adult and adolescent substance abuse. She began working virtually pre-pandemic and continues that today.
In her free time, Dr. Delaney can be found at a CrossFit gym, running the bayou paths of Houston, or playing with her Bloodhound, Ol' Red.
